Still I Rise - Faces
This print is a limited edition of 10 artworks, A4 size (21 x 29,7 cm), professionally printed on 250 gsm Biotop Off-White paper. Each piece is signed, numbered and authenticated by Murilo Jorge. Frame is not included.
Inspiration:
After reading a chapter of the book The Artist's Way by Julia Cameron, I felt truly inspired to create this piece. The chapter explored the idea of self-protection and what an artist needs to do to preserve their peace and continue the journey.
At the center of the composition, you’ll see one of the faces from my series, surrounded by the remains of an explosion, contrasted with eleven shiny acrylic diamonds. I remember I was still reflecting on a previous chapter about inner strength, so this piece is also deeply connected to another painting called Untitled Rebirth. Although the new painting was finished, it remained untitled.
A few days later, after watching an incredible performance of Maya Angelou’s poem Still I Rise on YouTube, the title just made perfect sense to me.
