Exhibition opening at Museum Het Schip
My first time exhibiting in a museum!
Here I bring a few photos from the exhibition opening at Museum Het Schip on Friday 17th of October. The Herdenkingszegel exhibition is part of the Triennial of Graphics 2025 and is also celebrating Amsterdam’s 750th anniversary.
A commemorative stamp by each participating artist was printed at AGA LAB using various graphic techniques. The artworks are now on display in the former post office of the museum. How cool is that?!! 😄 Copies of each artwork are also available for purchase in the museum shop.
About my artwork:
It combines various techniques: photography, digital collage and illustration. The stamp was printed at AGA LAB in two colours using screen printing. I presented a view of an imaginary Amsterdam cargo boat, loaded with houses and surrounded by starlings. This boat brings no material goods, but hope. The cargo boat, central object of the stamp, is a reference to the painting Porto I (1953) by Tarsila do Amaral.
I also had copies of my stamp in the museum shop, but they sold out already during the opening.
Thank you Herma, Dominyka, the museum team, the Grafiek25 team, all artists and collectors who were present. This is the first time I’m presenting my work in a museum, and I feel extremely humbled and grateful for this opportunity.
Go check it out in person, the stamp designs are small in size, but truly incredible!
As beautifully said during the opening:
“Every print, every stamp is a moment of encounter: between maker and material, between past and present, between image and viewer.” 🥹
Herdenkingszegel exhibition:
On view until 25-01!
